Mighty Grip has been a prominent brand for pole sport since the inception of the art as a sport. Behind the highly respected brand is Mr Joel Bretan. Joel’s enjoyment of racquetball led him to discover Mighty Grip, whose originator wished to sell the formula after having suffered a stroke. Having been involved in the retail industry since his early life through his involvement in his family’s pharmacy business, Joel was very much in his element when he began to market the Mighty Grip product ten years ago.  Initially it was marketed towards athletes involved with baseball, tennis, golf, and racquetball.  Fate, however, led Joel into the arena of pole fitness when, by what Joel describes as “a chance encounter with a pole dancer,” a new field was opened to the company.  Joel’s description of this occurrence is short and sweet, just like his basic temperament; as he finishes this story simply saying, “the rest is history.”

The success of Mighty Grip in the global pole community has enabled Joel and his company to become one of the most beneficent sponsors of many important pole fitness events worldwide, including the first annual American Pole Fitness Championships 2010, APFA’s Pole In The Park™ in New York (the first government approved public showcase of pole fitness in the world). Mighty grip also has been proud to provide sponsorships to some of the pole athletes who perform and compete in the significant pole events.

APFA Founder and president, Tinu, refers to him as the “God Father of Pole Fitness”. She says of him, “There is not a stingy bone in this man’s body. If we had 4 more people like him giving back to the community the way he does, the sport would have been on a much higher and advance level by now. He gives without hesitation, he never doubts your motives provided you are genuine.”

To Joel, much fulfillment comes through supplying a product which is of benefit to the beginning dancer, encouraging perseverance in the face of grip difficulties; and also through pushing the advancement of pole fitness by sponsoring top-caliber pole athletes, enabling them to train and travel. To him, it is a way of giving back to the industry, which he does with joy.

Mighty Grip recently launched a new line of body grip gears which has been seen on APFC 2010 champions Marlo, Princeton, and Kyra Johannesen at Polesque in New York and Zoraya Judd at Zen arts show at the EDC in Las Vegas before 100,000 adoring fans. The grip gears are now available through the company’s website where much of Joel’s business is done through the company’s website MightyGrip.com and via sporting goods distributors worldwide.

The company will have some of the new items on sale at the APFC event in New York City, Friday, October 14, 2011 starting at 5pm.
