Matt Martsolf aka Mattcrobat, the official Youth Advisory Committee Board Member of International Pole Fitness Federation (IPFF), will be making a trip to New York City as one of the Masters Division finalist at the American Pole Fitness Championships (APFC) competing on Friday, October 14, 2011. This much you may have heard, but what you may not have heard is he is being accompanied by some of Jasmine Dragons‘ finest from his studio in Ohio to dazzle the audience with some of their jaw dropping pole and aerial acrobatic skills. The APFC has always been a family friendly affair promoting pole sport in the mainstream and breaking barriers since it’s inception in 2010 when the association daringly made a worldwide history as the first to welcome kids to pole sport event worldwide by featuring a 2-year old Benford Kayne pole dancing with his mother, Ryssa on a public park and a 6-year old “Mr Luis” who performed at the inaugural pole event with his father.  The association is continuing its mission and goal to promote youth in p0le sport as a means of staying healthy and fit, setting a standard and trend in the industry, no difference from playing on a public playing ground.

The APFC 2011 gladly welcomes kids of all ages as guests (free attendance for kids under 13 (with proven age ID) provided their parents RSVPs before October 1, 2011).

Allison Smrdel

These talented group will be led by “Mr.Luis“  who will be joined by his team of young and talented pole practitioners and aerialist Zoe Howson, Nina Menlini, Allison Smrdel, Ben Castelot, Elizabeth Leroy & Bryn Farinacci, ages 6-13 years of age.

Nina and Allison loves drawing and art, Elizabeth is a true outdoors girl she loves going on hikes and 4 wheeling, whereas Bryn is quite the thespian and loves singing and acting. When Zoe is not break-dancing she is, well, break-dancing. Ben, being a true family man at the age of 8, when asked what he loves to do for fun, replies “Any minute spent with my crazy brother is fun.” The kids were hand selected by both Matt and his business partner and son “Mr. Luis”. On top of continuing there perspective classes they are also gathering weekly as a group to come up with a routine that is sure to dazzle and impress the jaded and proud New York elite on Friday, October 14 2011, 6:30pm (door opens at 5pm) at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom Theater.

It’s no wonder these amazing students have been picked they do it all, from poi and stilts to Aerial Fabric and (of course Pole). They work hard at what they do. But when it gets down to it they are just kids, hard working, but kids. When asked what they like to do in their spare time, it is clear that they all enjoy their training at Jasmine Dragons, one of the leading aerial and pole studio in Ohio in order to continue learning the skills that are transforming them into amazing and fit budding young adults while creating time to still do what makes them kids.

Bryn Farinacci
